The Lodge Card Club Raid
On March 10, Texas police officers stormed The Lodge Card Club of Doug Polk, Jason Levin, and Jake Abdalla. Not only because of the popular streaming format “Poker at the Lodge,” the poker room is a popular destination for poker pros, high stakes gamblers, and poker fans from all countries. On that particular Tuesday, the authorities stopped the gaming operation, caused the closure of the renowned card club, and confiscated around $2 million in cash as part of the action.

The original reasons listed on the search warrant were:
- Participation in organized criminal activities
- Money laundering
- Promotion of gambling
- Operating a gambling business
- Possession of gambling devices, equipment, or utensils
Result of the Raid at The Lodge
On April 9, the time window expired in which the Texas authorities could apply for a “Civil Asset Forfeiture,” i.e., a civil seizure of funds of an object, such as a card club. Had they let this 30-day deadline pass, they would have had to return the confiscated funds to “The Lodge.”

On April 8, one day before the deadline, a 9-page document describing the result of the raid was submitted to the district court of Williamson County. The accusation of money laundering was dropped in all aspects, while the money was retained due to the accusation of illegal gambling.
