300 CHF Bigstack – Final Day

10 of the original 318 (220+98) entries returned to the GC Pokerroom tournament tables on Tuesday to crown the 11th ring winner of the WSOPC Bendern. Waiting for him, alongside the WSOP piece of jewelry, was the 18.317 CHF top prize from the 81.567 CHF prize pool.

With a guaranteed 1.000 Swiss Francs, the top 10 Bigstack participants entered the final. With 7 German-speaking participants remaining, the chances of a ring for the D-A-CH-L community were very good, especially since the chip leader, Sam Taghadossi, also came from Austria.

But the final was not to start well for the Bigstacks from the D-A-CH-L region: Peter Camponovo (SUI), who started the final 4th in chips, was the first to have to vacate his seat on the final day in 10th place (1.000 CHF). Not quite as surprisingly, short stack Nico Frenn (SUI) followed him to the rails in ninth place (1.200 CHF). A major surprise was the early exit of Day 1 chip leader Sam Taghadossi, who already had to head to the cashier in 8th place (1.550 CHF). Oliver Kathriner (SUI) finished the Bigstack event in 7th place (2.050 CHF), exactly at the rank at which he had also started the final. In contrast, the only lady in the final, Stephanie Agostinetti (SUI), delivered a spin-up story. Starting as the shortest stack, the Swiss player climbed to 6th place (2.750 CHF).

With the bustout of Axel Rank (GER) in 4th place (3.850 CHF), the chances of a DACHL success were further diminished. Among the last four, only one German-speaking player was still represented. He was indeed able to outlast Manuel Borger (CPV) in 4th place (5.450 CHF), but then it was also over for Laurence Kratzer (AUT) in third place on the podium (7.950 CHF).

This meant that Ring #11 would go to Italy. In the all-Italian duel for the title, Daniele Paonessa finally had to settle for the runner-up spot and an 11.850 CHF payout. His compatriot Oscar Bonifacio was able to conclude his WSOPC Liechtenstein as Bigstack champion with a ring and the 18.317 CHF top prize!
