The Heads-Up Cash Game World Championship

The flagship of CoinPoker, the Cash Game World Championship, takes place multiple times every year on the crypto poker platform. So far, the online poker room has come up with something new for each edition. After the NLH Highstakes CGWC, the Midstakes CGWC, and the PLO CGWC, the fourth edition takes place as a Heads Up CGWC – and in parallel in NLH and PLO!

From April 6 to May 3, participants duel with a buy-in of $10,000 at blinds $50/$100 (or higher). As with previous editions, the HU CGWC also applies that no rake is taken from the tables! While in all previous CGWC editions, hands played with only two people at the table were not counted, this will be the first one-on-one cash game world championship!

Another novelty is that HU opponents can also agree on three other modalities:
1. Stakes: The limit $50/$100 is the specified standard, but if both players wish, they can also play at higher blinds.
2. Number of tables: The requirement is 2 tables or at the discretion of the two players also more. (In special cases, 1-tabling can also take place.)
3. PLO Poker Format: In the Pot-Limit Omaha HU matches, players can also switch from the standard PLO4 to PLO5 or even PLO6 if both players want.

  • Event period: April 6 – May 3, 2026
    ▫️ Formats: No Limit Texas Hold’em & 4-Card Pot Limit Omaha or PLO5, PLO6)
    ▫️ Stakes: $50/$100 (or higher)
    ▫️ Buy-In: 100BB ($10,000 or higher) with mandatory auto-reload
    ▫️ Rake: 100% rake-free
    ▫️ Ante: No ante

The Format: Group Stage, Semifinals, Finals

The 3 Stages of the CGWC

The HU CGWC is held in 3 phases: a group stage, the semifinals, and the third-place match or of course also the grand final.

Group Stage – April 6-19

The top player from each group qualifies for the semifinals at the end of the two-week preliminary round. The length of the matches depends on the number of players in the group. Up to 200 points can be earned per match.

  • Round-Robin: In group mode, everyone plays against everyone.
  • Match Length: 1,250 to 1,875 hands, depending on group size
  • Group Size: With 8 entries there are two 4-player groups, with 12 entries there are four 3-player groups, with 16 entries four 4-player groups
  • HU Victory: 50 points are awarded for winning the heads-up duel.
  • EV BB Points: Scoring is based on expected value (EV) and not on the result. Per match, between 0 and 150 points can be won or lost. 10 EV big blinds equal 1 point, the maximum of 150 BB EV points would be reached with a win or loss of 15 buy-ins.
  • Death Match as Tiebreaker: If there is a tie at the end of the group stage, the players rated ex equo play a death match. The first to reach 100 BBs profit (in dollars, not EV) wins the tiebreaker.
Semifinals – April 20-26

The group winners reach the semifinals. The player with the most points after the preliminary round can choose his semifinal opponent from among the qualified players. Each semifinal is played over 2,000 hands. The winners of the semifinals reach the final for the 4th Cash Game World Championship.

Grand Final and Third-Place Match – April 27 – May 3

Starting April 27, the winner of the 2026 Heads Up Cash Game World Champions will be determined in the final duel over 2,000 hands. On May 3, prizes will be awarded to the champion and runner-up.

Between the semifinal losers there will be a “Third-Place Match”. The match for third place will consist of 1,000 hands.

The entire competition takes place in this format in both Pot-Limit Omaha and No-Limit Hold’em!

The CGWC Rules in Detail – Limping Prohibited!

Participants can take part in the NLH field, the PLO field, or both competitions.
By default, the duel is held simultaneously at at least 2 tables.
Limping in heads-up is prohibited. If it happens unintentionally, the hand is not counted; if it occurs repeatedly, disqualification may result.

The Prizes

The entry fee for players is $10,000 (plus $10,000 deposit in case of withdrawal), to which CoinPoker contributes $5,000 added to the prize pool. The exact prize pool will be announced after registration closes.

CoinPoker Cash Game World Championship - ROLEX

As with previous editions, both NLH & PLO Heads Up Cash Game World Champions will receive a specially engraved Rolex as world champion wristwear.
