According to his testimony, Goldstein asked Robl in 2016 to prepare him for a heads-up match against American billionaire Alec Gores. Besides him, Keith Gipson and Phil Galfond were also hired as coaches.

Robl saw this as an opportunity to earn money through a stake, and he was also friends with Goldstein at the time.

Robl actually collected around $2.9 million from the match, in which Goldstein crushingly defeated the billionaire.

Robl was also involved in Goldstein’s matches against Asian multimillionaires “Tango” and “Chairman,” although Goldstein only started making a profit after Robl’s loss limit was exceeded, and he therefore did not participate in the $13.3 million profit.

Robl further testified that Goldstein was not a winning player in ring games and that he did not have a complete overview of his profits and losses from stakes.

Goldstein also played against Andy Beal, Kevin Hart, and other prominent poker enthusiasts.
