6-Bet Flop - Al-in and Call Turn - J-high wins on the River

“This is the most incredible hand I have ever seen in my life,” summed up Chris Hunichen the spectacular 3-way action in the very first level of the $10k NLH Event #6 of the current US Poker Open (USPO) for the incredulous players and spectators around. We show you the mentioned hand in the livestream video from the PokerGO Studio at ARIA Las Vegas.

The Protagonists

Anyone who thought that the early stages of deep high roller tournaments are boring when the best tournament players in the world meet with deep green chip stacks might have to rethink now. In the first level of the USPO Event #6 with a $10,100 buy-in, none other than Jeremy Becker faced Chino Rheem and the leader of the US Poker Open, Brock Wilson.

Preflop 3-Way Action with Pocket Aces

At blinds 500/1,000, Jeremy Becker opened the action from middle position with a min-bet to 2,000, which Chino Rheem called in position behind him. Brock Wilson in the big blind was not happy with that and played a 3-bet to 13,000, which the other two called.

The initial raiser Jeremy Becker held Js [Ts|,][while][Chino][Rheem][in][position][held][6s 5s]. Brock Wilson reportedly held [Ax] [Ax].

Pure Escalation: 6-Bet & Call on the Flop

The three players saw a flop with 8h 9s 4s.
Brock Wilson played a 15,000 C-bet with his nut overpair. Jeremy Becker then min-raised to 30,000, followed by a min-3-bet to 45,000 from Chino Rheem. After this strange action, Brock Wilson took 3 timebanks to find a fold with 85,000 chips behind. The heads-up situation with one player less did not stop Becker and Rheem from continuing their min-raises diligently. Now it was Jeremy Becker’s turn again, who raised to 60,000 before the next min-raise to 75,000 from Chino Rheem. Becker then played a 6-bet (!) on the flop with a min-raise to 90,000, which Rheem surprisingly just called with only a few chips behind.

Both thus still sat on their strong combo draws without anyone having hit anything yet.

All-In & Call on the Turn

On the Kh turn, one didn’t have to be a prophet to foresee that the few remaining chips would also go into the middle. With such escalation, the entire PokerGO Studio at the ARIA Resort & Casino was of course excited to see what set-over-set action was going on here. When Chino Rheem then turned over his cards with “I have 6-high,” and Jeremy Becker couldn’t believe he was ahead with J-high, it was clear to everyone that with a brick on the river, probably the biggest tournament pot in history would go to a J-high hand.

What the river then brought and how the surrounding high rollers and the ace-folding Brock Wilson reacted, you can see in the PokerNews video.
